I’m Harry Fynn, and I’ve been running Plato Video Ltd since 2011. Founded in 1960 by my dad, Lionel Fynn under the original title of Action Films, Plato Video remains a family business, based in Bournemouth.

Plato Video has always been a part of my life. Growing up, professional camera gear and video equipment could be found in every corner of the house. From a young age I took an interest in learning what each bit of kit could do. It’s a shame all that equipment is obsolete now! Despite knowing the ultimate fate of new tech, I seem to have inherited the same fascination with accumulating video gear!

I studied Film Production at University of Winchester and started working as a freelance camera operator after graduating. What started as a few odd jobs for my dad through Plato Video, soon became a full time occupation. I officially took over Plato Video as Director when it was incorporated in 2017.

At the heart of every story told, every product demonstrated, every service explained and every event promoted, is a passion for video, encoded in my DNA!

OUR HISTORY

Action Films specialised in capturing weddings, sports events and anything full of action!

By 1970 Action Films changed its name to Plato Tapes and won a number of major contracts for the supply of educational cassette tapes on legal and commercial subjects. When professional video equipment became more accessible with the introduction of VHS and Umatic, Plato Tapes became Plato Video.
